Cancer in the Workplace: New Resource for Union Representatives

On 12 July, an exciting new online educational resource produced by Macmillan and Unionlearn, the Trades Union Congress’s educational arm, was launched at the Unionlearn annual conference 2010.
The learning programme is designed to enable union representatives to support employees who have been diagnosed with cancer. Union representatives have a potentially vital role to play in helping their members return to work after cancer, from giving information about their rights to negotiating workplace adjustments.
The online programme contains video clips which focus on particular scenarios, advice from professionals, and reflective learning exercises to equip union representatives with the knowledge and skills to deal with the issues that might arise.
